About the Event

About the event

Take a step back into South Australian Motor Racing history with The Glen Ewin Hill Climb Revival. The day will have many cars on display throughout the grounds with some of the original class winning cars from the 1930s’ and 1950s’ as well as the original victors trophy.

Shortly after the war, a keen group of enthusiasts from the Sports Car Drivers SA established the Hill Climb race at Glen Ewin Estate . The race required the cars to drive up the steep driveway at the Estate and out onto the Lower Hermitage road and into the Adelaide Hills. The race was commonly known as the “Jam Factory” hill climb, because of the produce made at the Estate – sauces, jams and preserved fruits. The track was used from 1948 to 1951, when an Act of Parliament banned all further motor competition on public roads. The famous track remains intact in its entirety to this day!
